Incredible Homeschooling Advantages

We enjoy a number of of homeschooling advantages since we decided to teach our children at home over twenty years ago. Some of these benefits are educational and others are personal or family-related. These are not listed in any particular order.

Benefits

  • freedom to teach our children in a Christ-centered environment without any government interference
  • ability to enjoy learning together as a family
  • flexibility to adapt our curriculum for any current events or family needs that arise; such as adjusting our school day to mourn at the passing of Steve Irwin or a similar notable person and study their life's achievements
  • ability to tailor our teaching styles for all types of learners in the home
  • liberty to participate in enjoyable field trips and projects that arise if they are beneficial
  • ability to teach a more complete historical overview rather than rely on distorted, biased presentations offered in many texts that omit or refute the contributions and accomplishments of all races

Another one of the benefits to homeschooling include the ability to study specific interests and passions such as animals, or more specifically horses.

Also, our children are able to care for our rabbits, dogs, and fish as needed.

We are also able to complete our lessons around my husband's work schedule which varies sometimes. If he has some extra time off from work, we can opt to enjoy more time with him and complete lessons when he returns to work.

Clearly, our greatest homeschooling benefit is the complete authority and guidance we possess concerning the educational path of our children. We determine the content and quality of materials that influence them.

We enjoy numerous opportunities while teaching our children at home with the ability to select our own resources and teaching styles.
