High School Home Study
Can Be Done

Many wonder if high school home study can be successfully accomplished and what benefits, if any, can a parent anticipate if they select that option. Others will continue to fear that your child will not be socialized if s/he remains with you all the time rather than look at the facts.

Sadly, that concern rarely ends and your efforts may always appear "strange" to some especially when you choose to continue beyond middle school.

Recently, after listening to my best friend's daughter reminisce about the "pros" of being homeschooled, I decided to give her and others a platform to share their experiences.

These graduates may have attended optional co-ops or tutorial programs, completed online home school courses, and used different home school high school curriculums but they are similar in that all completed home school high school and received a homeschool high school diploma!

In Their Own Words

They were each given a set of the ten questions below and their responses will follow as they are sent back to me:

  • How long were you homeschooled?
  • Did you ever want to be schooled in a public or private school?
  • What did you most enjoy about home education?
  • What did you least enjoy about home education?
  • How would you summarize your parents' reasons for schooling you at home?
  • Are you planning to home school your children?
  • Did you take any classes outside your home? How was that experience?
  • What were some of the comments/questions you received from peers or adults while you were schooled at home?
  • Do you think home education adequately prepared you for college, trade school, or your career? Why or why not?
  • If the clocks were turned back, would you want to be homeschooled again?

All of their answers will appear on a page with their photo. So, read on to see what these homeschooled students had to say about experiencing high school home study:
