Learn the Pros of Homeschooling

The pros of homeschooling are pretty evident to those who are already teaching at home. However, others often wonder whether the testimonials about these homeschooling advantages are real, exaggerated or even exist at all!

My Experience

I have enjoyed training our children at home for over twenty years. I consider it a mandate from God and an awesome privilege and opportunity. Our grandson also spends time with us each day while his mom works so we can impact his life, too!

Many parents have confided in me that they wish they were able to do what I do. I will admit that teaching on a daily basis can be challenging at times, but I prefer to have them at home so we can model Godly character and instruct them in the ways in which they should go.

Also, we are able to immediately address their academic needs and encourage them in areas when necessary. The family continues to grow each day and we have challenges, of course, but we also have many great days.

Homeschooling Benefits

In discussing this topic with other homeschoolers, I got a variety of responses but there were some similarities. Several moms shared that they most enjoyed these facts about homeschooling...

• They are able to choose the homeschool curriculum for their children and can be as selective and original as needed
• They are able to spend those additional hours with their children instead of having "to whisk them off" to public or private school for the majority of the day
• They do not have to hear their children say to them "my teacher told me to do it this way"
• Bullying, peer pressure, mandatory participation in fundraisers, and conflicts between school schedules and family vacations are nonexistent when teaching at home
• They decide when and how to discuss sexual content with their children and have not relinquished that to the school systems

Finally, their number one benefit of homeschooling was their freedom to talk about God with their children and instill Christian values in them at an early age.
