Curriculum Picks
for the Year

Here are my best homeschool curriculum picks for the 2010-2011 school year. I will be teaching a 15yog, 13yob, 12yob, 10yob, 8yog, and our youngest son, Darius, who is five and has completed homeschool kindergarten.

I am flexible and always willing to make improvements in our homeschool program especially if I find that something just isn't working.

We have used a variety of home school resources as well as several types of teaching styles over the years. I have finally decided that these are the materials that will help us accomplish our goals for our children.

2010-2011 School Year

Bible: We will use the Bob Jones Online studies and Christian Liberty Press Bible series(CLP) to study Old Testament history and accounts

English: The Bob Jones Online, Daily Grams, Weaver's Wisdom Words, Sequential Spelling, and Hearts & Hands will be used for our grammar, phonics, spelling, and writing materials

Math: Bob Jones Online, Saxon Math Homeschool with Saxon Teacher, Math-U-See, and Horizon Math will cover math in grades one through ten

History: Bob Jones Online, Drive Thru History, and Mystery of History Unit Study will allow us to study history together

Science: Bob Jones Online, ABeka Science, and Bob Jones elementary science texts will provide our instruction and activities

Electives: Bob Jones French I, Music lessons, Art, Handwriting, and Mavis Beacon Typing

I never continue using a resource just because I spent money on it already. Those resources become the items that go into my storage tote for the next used book sale.

I will also supplement with great Usborne and Kingfisher books, living books borrowed during our weekly library visits, and any other good resources I discover during the year.

We will continue with some of the same resources from last year because they work! But, for a list of what we will use look below.

Bible: We will use the King James Bible and the NKJV Bible and read through the New Testament books. We will also supplement with audio messages from the soleyn.org website

English: Daily Grams, Explode the Code, & understanding Writing

Math: Saxon Math, Saxon Teacher, Horizon's Math

History: Christian Liberty Press, Creation to Canaan

Science: Bob Jones Science, Internet Printables, ABeka Science

Electives: Bob Jones French, Vocabulary Bridges, Test Prep Practice books
